my parents and brother watch that show, and it seems funny sometimes and I’m sure it’s a good show, but a lot of the humor seems to be “let’s make fun of easy targets! based on stereotypes!”
So true, they also make fun of Eastern Europeans. I just love car shows but am not very mechanical so it’s one of the few I understand. The American one seems even worse tbh, I won’t touch it with a 10 ft pole.
Also, forgot to mention it, but prolly will be doing that video I mentioned on Monday :)

and whenever anyone presents the whole stereotype that southerners are backwards and ignorant, it just makes me think of you and how you’re the only southerner I know and you’re more smart and progressive than like 99% of the people I know
Thank you so much, hun <3 I know we deserve some of the crap we get wrt to social policy, but the constant insults to intelligence really hurt. Cause a lot of my family isn’t as well off as I am, but it was rarely because of willful ignorance and zealotry, but because of either learning disability or poverty. Hell, back in the segregation days, my granddaddy was segregated with the Black men at his work because he has a severe learning disability (and became a great man, and the opposite of the racist Southerner stereotype because of it, fought where he could for Civil Rights and everything, srsly my granddaddy is a doll). But people just go “lol all Southerners are so stupid because they WANT TO BE and so racist lol”, which is racist in itself cause last I checked there’s a wonderful array of different PoC cultures here, I mean Nashville is the largest Kurdish ex-patriot population in the WORLD.
And it pisses me off, cause a lot of the Southern people they make fun of on the show seem so nice! They just have accents or don’t act all like the hosts do or the Northern people they’ve met do and that somehow equates to ignorance.
Ugh, I just have a lot of feelings about this. Thank you so much for being so great and dealing with my ranting <3

Why doesn’t anyone just be a superhero.
Like, I don’t mean someone who puts on a cape and tries to jump off a building; I just mean making yourself a costume and another persona and going out and fighting crime. I mean, obviously you wouldn’t have any powers, but Batman didn’t have powers, right?
Idk I know jack shit about superheroes, but it just surprises me that this hasn’t been tried many times in real life. I mean, that’s pretty much what the Green Hornet was about, right?
this is actually probably a terrible idea but people do things that are terrible ideas all the time and this just seems like one of the more obvious ones idek man.

Real-life superheroes (RLSH) are people who engage in different forms of activism using the thematic device of the costumed superhero, many of them adopting pseudonyms and wearing custom-made outfits.[1][2] They perform services that they believe benefit the community in a variety of ways. Some real-life superheroes, hand out supplies to the homeless, while others seek to combat crime through community patrols and neighborhood watch in which suspicious activity is identified and reported to the proper authorities. Some in the RLSH community try to resolve issues on their own, contravening police wishes[3].
